graduation weekend

I love excuses to buy a new dress. This time, it was an extra special excuse. My boyfriend graduated from the MBA program at the best university in the country (perhaps I am biased).

i'm back!

You may have noticed an absence in your Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and blogrolls. I haven't blogged (or utilized social media in any way) in a week. I feel terrible, but it happens. After four grueling weeks of finals (3 last week), I had to take off to Ryan's graduation, then spend this week moving out of my place. I have not stopped for a second. Oh, and I'm moving halfway across the country + starting my new job next week. I truly appreciate your patience!!

To celebrate, I'm having MY FIRST GIVEAWAY! The boutique where I got my dress and necklace in this post, Vestique, is partnering with me to giveaway an AWESOME necklace. If you live in Charlotte, they are opening their Charlotte location Tuesday May 22nd on East Blvd! They are also in Raleigh, NC and online. So be on the lookout Monday for rules to enter!

In Anticipation of Graduation

I am not graduating {again, yet}... but one of my loyal readers, and girlfriends, requested that I devote a post to graduation dresses. For those of you who are graduating or are just attending graduations this year, I hope my picks give you some ideas {or at least some places to shop!}. I had to get a graduation dress myself; my man is graduating from grad school in 2 weeks!

I wore this dress {last year's version} to my college graduation:
Milly 'Floral Eyelet' Cotton Wrap Dress
Milly dress & Lilly Pullitzer cardigan

I also had graduation portraits taken...so had various dresses for those:

Anthropologie, similar below.

Lilly Pullitzer, similar here
 It was hard for me to focus on dresses that weren't my alma mater's colors... it's just the prettiest blue. Hope these give you some grad-dress-inspo!

Bells, Veils & Details...

{what i wore}: wedding shower

The Dress:
Oasis Scarf Print Dress
The Shoes: {blogged about here}
Zara I Basic Sandal
The Story:

...it's wedding season!

 The time has come, as it does in every girl's life, when her first best friend gets married. My first bestie to get hitched is under 3 months away from her big day. I was actually at a wedding last summer, when I opened my clutch & saw I had a missed call and voicemail from her. I started screaming immediately, I knew what it meant...ENGAGED!

Meg, Amanda & I became close in when I started high school; the guys we dated were best friends  {we have since moved on}. Anyhow, by my sophomore year we got pretty inseparable, thanks to an out-of-control Honors Algebra II class, and checking out of school during journalism class to "sell ads" for the school paper {In our defense, we did sell some ads. We also bronzed, got ice cream, etc.}. I was a year behind them, and will always cherish our last year in high school together, when they were seniors. We all went our separate ways in college, keeping in touch of course, & always keeping each other updated on the latest news out of our little home town.

This weekend was her wedding shower, and I was so happy to see her {it's been WAY too long!} & finally her ring in person!

This is us now:

...and this was us then! {slightly embarrassing}

Let's end on a more-flattering note: here's Meghan and her fiancé, Jason!

Love you Meg! So happy for you and can't wait to be there on the best day of your life.
