Trunk Show

Last weekend my roommate, and fruit pizza connoisseur, hosted a fun and BEAUTIFUL jewelry party! I thought: FINALLY the perfect excuse to practice shooting with my new camera. The line is designed by Erin McDermott, based right up the street from us in Charlotte, NC. How amazing are her pieces?

Choosing what to buy was near-impossible. Especially after mimosas. And Erin is just as precious as her craft! We had such a great time with her. This talented gal can definitely help you with any of your jewelry needs. Please visit her website + blog + Facebook! She even makes custom designs, if you have something in mind for yourself, or for gifts, bridesmaids, etc. And keep an eye out for her pieces to be featured on 'elle bow room' in the future, I'm so happy with the new additions to my jewelry wardrobe! And bless her sweet heart for giving some of my favorite baubles some tender, loving & healing repair care!

upgrading

So excited that my new camera came this week! Tried it out a bit today at the pool, I am learning the ins & outs of it slowly. Here's the one I decided on:
Canon Rebel XT EOS & EFS 18-55mm lens

I bought this camera about 9 months ago, but really wanted/needed a DSLR. I definitely still recommend this one, it's been a great camera:
Nikon Coolpix L810

A big THANK YOU to some of my fabulous friends, who are AMAZING photographers, {but let's be real, they should both be models}, that helped me make sure I knew what I was getting myself into! Both of these NC girls have transplanted themselves across the country, so if you're in their area, contact them for some shoots!

{stolen from Kendra's Facebook page...it's hard to find a photo with the photographer actually in it!}

Kendra Martin Hazelwood, Houston, TX: {psst, she's having a little girl this summer!}

{also from Facebook}

Carly Brantmeyer, San Francisco, CA: {psst, she's getting hitched this summer, so she will be Carly Mask!}

Chanel's Tribeca Film Festival dinner

Most XX-chromosomed human beings cannot help but have an affinity towards Chanel, myself included. Everyone from fashionistas to businesswomen to photographers to writers and artists have long had an admiration and fixation on Coco, creator of the House of Chanel. Her interlocked C's are recognized and ogled over across the world. Annually the designer fashion house hosts a dinner during that little get-together known as the Tribeca Film Festival. Shall we pretend we were there?

In Anticipation of Graduation

I am not graduating {again, yet}... but one of my loyal readers, and girlfriends, requested that I devote a post to graduation dresses. For those of you who are graduating or are just attending graduations this year, I hope my picks give you some ideas {or at least some places to shop!}. I had to get a graduation dress myself; my man is graduating from grad school in 2 weeks!

I wore this dress {last year's version} to my college graduation:
Milly 'Floral Eyelet' Cotton Wrap Dress
Milly dress & Lilly Pullitzer cardigan

I also had graduation portraits taken...so had various dresses for those:

Anthropologie, similar below.

Lilly Pullitzer, similar here
 It was hard for me to focus on dresses that weren't my alma mater's colors... it's just the prettiest blue. Hope these give you some grad-dress-inspo!
