wedding weekend

Last Saturday we had an amazing time at the most exquisite wedding I have ever seen! Held at The Standard Club in downtown Chicago, Ryan's friends from college Max and Melissa threw a ridiculous{ly awesome} bash. For the black tie affair, I wore a dress my mom made in 1969. She wore this classic dress to her senior prom, and I loved wearing it this weekend! Here's some snapshots of our evening:

lattice love

I'm completely obsessed with this skirt. When I saw this fabric, I picked up the whole roll and handed it to my mom.

"Shorts or skirt?" I asked.

Skirt it became. I selected the vintage buttons from her humongous collection, and painted them to brighten them up.

I'll try to stop posting so many homemade pieces! Mom's exclusive with her creations.

handmade blues

Today I have another beautiful handmade piece! I designed this tunic top and my talented mother did all the sewing {we also collaborated together to create this dress & more!}. She is so gifted, and I am - slowly - learning as well. I got a brand new sewing machine for Christmas, now all I need is free time! I love tunic shirts and dresses for summer, so easy to throw on.

What I'm wearing:
Top: handmade, my own
White toothpick chinos: J. Crew {similar}
Wedges: Aldo {similar here and here}
Clutch: Tory Burch
Sunnies: House of Harlow
Earrings: unknown, from Luna

My monogrammed sash is from LaRoque, she's a Carolina-girl's best kept secret! Annabelle Laroque is the founder and designer of the boutique-turned-fashion line based out of Columbia, South Carolina. Any girl can appreciate her southern preppy-chic style, not to mention the fun, bright prints she uses! Contact her for your next dress need, she custom-designs! easter dress

This Easter I wore a handmade shift dress. I designed the dress myself and my mom sewed it for me. I love this fabric I found, perfect for Easter! We typically keep the dress casual for Easter, but go all out on the cookin'.
